The dinner has been held annually since 1982 when the first dinner was held in the Tithebarn Hotel in Cockermouth. For many years the dinner was a formal event with an invited guest speaker. Speakers included two Editors of the Ringing World, the President of the Central Council, rining celebrities as well as local clergy.

Wendy Graham has  offered to  arrange the 2016 dinner and has posted this advance notice:

Guild Dinner 2016

The days of a Guild Dinner in formal dress with guest speakers are over but some of us still like to dress up a bit and go out for an interesting meal with other ringers. Therefore, I have booked a table at Middle Ruddings Country House Hotel, Braithwaite, Keswick for dinner on Saturday, 22nd October. This year there will not be a special set menu so diners will order from the standard menu (as many or as few courses as they wish) and settle their own bills. Towers will be reminded of this in September and I shall need names in early October. The table is booked for 12 people. If more people wish to come along and numbers run over this, it may not be possible to accommodate everyone. In that case it will be first come, first served. The group who went in 2015 felt the food was better than ever and it was a very pleasant evening. We are always made very welcome by the owners so I can thoroughly recommend it.
