Last week, Margaret Eastwood – best known as Peg to many of us – was awarded the Cumbria High Sheriff’s Neighbourhood Watch Award for services to Thursby community. This was in recognition of over thirty years of voluntary work in the parish. The award was presented by Christopher Holmes DL at Thursby Village Hall. The High Sheriff noted in his remarks that she is a ‘shining example’ of the value of voluntary work to the community and was very much in line with HM King Charles’ aspirations for the strengthening of community life.
Peg is a member of St Andrew’s, Thursby band; she runs the local history society; helps organise the village show; is a volunteer hospital driver and delivers medicine to those who can’t get out; edits the parish magazine and recently retired from the Parish Hall Committee.
This event to celebrate Peg’s achievements was attended by family, friends and representatives of the groups, clubs and organisations which she has led and contributed towards.
You are a true inspiration Peg!
